Starbucks Set to Open First Coffee Shop in Italy in 2017

Starbucks is expanding to its what may its toughest market yet.

Starbucks is saying bonjourno to Italy. The chain plans to open stores in the land of cappuccinos and espressos and this may be a tough market for Starbucks because coffee is so deeply ingrained in Italian culture. The bold move will see the first Starbucks open in Milan next year.

The decision harkens back to the company’s roots. It was on a business trip to Italy in the 1980’s that founder and CEO Howard Schultz decided to bring back espresso drinks to the U.S.

The concept took off and you can see the results on many street corners.
