President Obama Wants to Put an End to Guantanamo Bay

President Obama still wants to close the prison at Guantanamo Bay, insisting it can be done safely.

FOX’s Jon Decker at the White House:

Despite stiff bi-partisan Congressional opposition, the President’s plan to close the detention center at Guantanamo Bay this year is aimed at fulfilling a 2008 campaign promise:

(President Obama) “With this plan, we have the opportunity finally to eliminate a terrorist propaganda tool, strengthen relationships with allies and partners, enhance our national security and most importantly uphold the values that bind us as Americans.”

House Speaker Paul Ryan in a statement said that it is against the law-and it will stay against the law-to transfer terrorist detainees to American soil.
