Georgia Guards and Officers Arrested for Accepting Bribes and Drug Trafficking

An indictment in Georgia continues a crackdown in state prisons.

    FOX’s Dave Anthony reports:

They worked at prisons, but are now behind bars. More than 40 guards and officers arrested across Georgia on Thursday after they were indicted on charges of accepting bribes and drug trafficking.

Part of an ongoing federal probe into criminal activity and contraband in Georgia’s prisons that dates back to September.

About 130 people are facing charges so far. Some of them are current and former inmates. In one case, prison guards are accused of wearing their uniforms during drug transports to shield themselves from law enforcement scrutiny.
