Martin Shkreli Pleads the Fifth Before Congress
An ex-drug company chief, who infamously spiked the price of a life saving drug, gets an earful on Capitol Hill.
FOX’s Jared Halpern reports:
Often smirking and looking disinterested, ousted pharmaceutical executive Martin Shkreli had little to say at a House oversight hearing on drug pricing:
(Shkreli) “On the advice of counsel, I will not be giving an opening statement.”
Shrkeli was pressed on his decision to raise the price of a one-of-a-kind drug used to treat parasitic infection by 5,000%:
(Gowdy) “We can even talk about the purchase of a, is it Wu-Tang Clan? Is that the name of the album?”
Shrkeli refusing that question from Republican Trey Gowdy as well, several minutes after his dismissal, the 32-year-old was on Twitter writing, “It’s hard to accept these imbeciles represent the people in our government.”
