A Number of Birds Set to Be Killed Due to a Bird Flu Outbreak
The number of birds set to killed because of a bird flu outbreak growing to more than 400,000.
FOX’s Lilian Woo reports:
Health officials have added 156,000 chickens to the list of birds being euthanized because of the latest bird flu outbreak.
The Indiana State Board of Animal Health saying the egg laying chickens are at high risk of contracting the H7N8 virus because they’re housed at one of the 10 farms near a barn where infected turkeys were found last week.
More than 245,000 turkeys in Southwestern Indiana are slated to be killed in an effort to prevent the spread of the virus, but the weather is creating some problems. It’s been so cold that foam used to kill the birds has frozen.
