Spike Lee and Jada Pinkett Smith Boycotting Oscars
Two major black Hollywood players are boycotting this years Oscars.
FOX’s Michelle Pollino reports:
There is controversy again this year surrounding the Academy Awards as superstars Jada Pinkett Smith and Spike Lee will not be attending.
Pinkett Smith posting on her Facebook:
(Smith) Begging for acknowledgement or even asking diminishes dignity and diminishes power.”
Smith’s husband failed to net a best actor nomination for his role as Dr. Bennet Omalu in ‘Concussion’. Also Spoke Lee took to Instagram to announce that he and his wife would not attend the show.
The hashtag #OscarsSoWhite began trending again this year. It was launched last year by Twitter user @ReignOfApril after actors of color were shut out of acting nominations.
