England’s Considering Not Playing Their National Anthem at International Sporting Events

England considers scrapping ‘God Save The Queen’ as its anthem at international sporting events.

FOX’s Simon Owen reports from London:

It’s the National Anthem of the United Kingdom. But in sport, England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland often play separately and Scotland and Wales have adopted their own songs…

So should England follow?

(Perkins) “I’m very proud to be British and to be English, but they aren’t the same thing.”

British lawmaker Tony Perkins taking a bill to parliament here suggesting ditching ‘God Save the Queen’.

(Perkins) “If we are splitting up to compete on the sporting field, as we do, then we should have a song that reflects that.”

The bill will be considered in March.
