El-Paso Catholic Diocese Says No to Firearms in Church

Not everyone in Texas is embracing the state’s new “open carry” law for firearms.

    FOX’s Paul Stevens reports:

The Catholic Diocese of El-Paso saying it will not allow open carry of firearms in it’s parishes. Some folks understanding the Church’s position:

(Male) “If they don’t feel comfortable having people with weapons in the Church than that’s their business.”

Others seeing the concerns of gun owners:

(Male) “There have been attacks in a Church, so I could see why people would want to take their guns in a way.”

The Diocese saying it’s not concerned about affecting Church attendance:

(Fierro) “We might lose members if we allow them to bring the guns into the Church, but I think they’ll feel more secure if we keep the guns away.”

    Diocese Chancellor Patricia Fierro.
