SWAT Team Rescues 11 Children and Woman Held Hostage
A standoff involving children at a Georgia hotel is over.
FOX’s Tonya J. Powers has details:
11 children and a woman are okay after a SWAT team ended an early morning standoff at a hotel in Decatur, Georgia.
Authorities say a man was inside a room with the children and a woman refusing to come out after she called 911 following a disturbance.
The man, who was armed with a knife, refused to open the door when police arrived and stabbed himself in the neck as the standoff came to an end.
Dekalb Police Chief James Conroy praised first responders…
(Conroy) “Our officers, SWAT team, and the fire rescue department did a tremendous job. This was a five hour deployment, it’s very cold out here, they worked in treacherous conditions, all of our folks were outside.”
Investigators say they believe the children are related, but its unclear exactly how.
