The President is bypassing Congress with new measures aimed at tightening the nation's gun laws.

FOX's Jon Decker has more from the White House:

Citing the rash of mass shootings just over the last year, the President said he will unveil executive orders aimed at curtailing gun violence.

But he also tried to assure gun-owners that the new rules will not infringe on the rights of those wishing to buy a gun...

(President Obama) "The recommendations that are being made by my team here are ones that are entirely consistent with the second amendment and people's lawful right to bear arms."

The President's executive orders are almost certain to ignite a legal fight as Republicans say his actions are an executive overreach and unconstitutional.
