Allies of Saudi Arabia Cut Ties with Islamic Republic

The execution of a Shiite cleric in Saudi Arabia has sparked a war of words between the Kingdom and Iran, and has sparked protests in countries across the region.

    FOX’s Jessica Golloher reports:

Allies of Saudi Arabia have followed suit and cut ties with the Islamic Republic including Bahrain and Sudan.

The United Arab Emirates has downgraded relations. Saudi’s aviation authority tweeted it would suspend all flights to and from Iran.

Protesters stormed and burned Riyadh’s embassy and consulate, in Tehran, after the kingdom executed 47 people including top Shiite cleric Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr, who was seen by Iran as a martyr and was instrumental in minority Shiite Arab spring protests in Saudi Arabia.

The Islamic Republic says Riyadh wants to inflame tensions.
