North American Box Office Numbers Soar to Biggest in History

Thanks to a major boost from ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’, the North American box office is now making history.

FOX’s Michelle Pollino reports:

It was a big year for Hollywood, specifically at the box office…

Box office analyst Paul Dergarabedian:

(Dergarabedian) “We hit $11-billion for the first time on Tuesday Dec. 29 and we should wind up with about $11.1-billion.”

Dergarabedian explains the year started with a bang at the box office thanks to ‘American Sniper’ and ’50 Shades of Gray’… It continued with ‘Furious 7’, ‘Age of Ultron’, ‘Inside Out’, ‘Jurassic World’…

(Dergarabedian) “End of the year ‘Hunger Games: Mocking Jay, Part 2’ and then beyond that obviously ‘Star Wars’ scoring the winning goal at the very end of the game here to put us over the top.”

This makes 2015 the biggest box office in North American history.
