Chicago Officer Jason Van Dyke Pleads Not Guilty in Laquan McDonald Case

A not guilty plea from a Chicago police officer charged with murder.

FOX’s Gurnal Scott with the story:

Officer Jason Van Dyke’s attorney entered the plea in a brief court appearance… He’s charged with killing Laquan McDonald, who was shot 16 times as he carried a knife.

Attorney Dan Herbert says they’re beginning now to compile evidence…

(Herbert) ”That will be a continuous process for probably the next several months until motions are filed and then we look forward to having a trial.”

In the meantime, Herbert says he’s still considering a change of venue and agreeing to the trial being televised. Van Dyke’s next hearing is set for late January.
