Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl Arraigned On Charges, Defers Plea

Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl was arraigned Tuesday morning on charges related to his disappearance and capture in Afghanistan.

During a 12-minute hearing at Fort Bragg, Sgt. Bergdahl deferred his plea and court selection. He’s chosen a mix of military and civilian attorneys to serve on his defense team. Bergdahl faces charges of desertion — and misbehavior before the enemy, a rarely used but serious charge that could see him locked up for life. The 29-year-old claims he walked off base in Afghanistan to seek out a General to reports concerns about soldier safety. He’s admitted he had dreams of becoming a “super soldier”. Bergdahl is due back in court on January 12th.
