It will be up to a judge to decide if a lower court went too far by ordering a woman convicted of assault to learn about Islam.
FOX News' Lisa Lacerra reports:
The highest court in Massachusetts being asked to decide if a judge violated a woman's constitutional rights when he ordered her to take a course on Islam...
Daisy Obi was convicted of assault after pushing her tenant, a Muslim woman, down a flight of stairs three years ago... The woman claims Obi made disparaging remarks about Muslims to her and her children.
The judge sentenced Obi to six months in jail with another 18 months suspended, if she complied with probation conditions, including taking the course on Islam. The Supreme Judicial Court expected to hear arguments January 8.
