MLB Commissioner Recommends All 30 Teams Install Protective Nets Near Dugout

Not all fans will like them, but changes are coming to Big League stadiums.

FOX News’ Chris Hoenig has details:

Major League Baseball recommending that all 30 teams install protective netting from dugout to dugout to help protect fans nearest home plate from foul balls and broken bats…

(Manfred) “Obviously fan safety is paramount for us if we want our fans to be safe in the ball park.”

Commissioner Rob Manfred says the nets are not the only part of the plan…

(Manfred) “In addition to recommendation on physical location of nets, there will be a broad fan education component and we’ll have more details on that program after the January meeting.”

Several fans suffered injuries, some of them serious, after being hit by balls and bats last season.
