Congress Wants to Make It Harder for Europeans to Travel to the United States

Congress is poised to make it harder for some Europeans to travel to the U.S. in the wake of last month’s Paris terror attacks.

FOX News’ Jared Halpern has more from Capitol Hill:

The concern for lawmakers here is Western passport holders from nearly three dozen countries with a visa-waiver agreement with the U.S. are being recruited by ISIS…

(McCarthy) “5,000 Western passport holders have traveled to Iraq or Syria, this is why this is needed now.”

House Republican leader Kevin McCarthy, who is leading a counter-terrorism task force, unveiled a bill to block travelers who have been to Syria, Iraq, Iran, and Sudan from taking part in the visa-free travel…

Instead, they would need a visa, an additional step to check their backgrounds. Senate Democrats have pitched a similar proposal.
