School District Tells a Veteran to Change Christmas Tree Lighting Invitations
A school district in New Hampshire stopping a veteran who hosts the town’s annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony from advertising the event to the children.
FOX News’ Gary Baumgarten has the story:
Every year John Fletcher, Commander of the American Legion in Marlborough, New Hampshire, puts on the town’s annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony.
This year, the school district wouldn’t let him pass out leaflets to the kids inviting them, unless he changed it from a Christmas tree to a holiday tree lighting ceremony…
(Fletcher) “It’s not a holiday tree, it’s a Christmas tree.”
Fletcher used white out on the leaflets to get rid of the word Christmas, but refused to rename the event a holiday tree lighting ceremony.
The school superintendent, not commenting.
