Hostage Siege in Mali is Over

The State Department discusses the siege by terrorists at a hotel in Mali.

FOX’s Jon Decker reports from the White House:

The State Department is confirming that the hostage siege in Mali is over and that the U.S. Embassy has lifted its recommendation for U.S. citizens to “shelter in place.”

State Department Spokesman John Kirby says about a dozen Americans, including the chief of staff for the U.S. Embassy were rescued and there are no reports of injuries.

(Kirby) “There was a rumor I think in some press reporting that a U.S. diplomatic plated vehicle was somehow used or involved in the attack and that is not true.”

Kirby says the airport in Mali’s capital city is open and the U.S. Embassy has returned to normal operations.
