Senators Say Enough To Paying Professional Sports Teams To Honor Military

    The Pentagon has paid millions to professional sports teams to host events honoring the military and some Senators say it’s time for that to stop.

    FOX News’ Jared Halpern has more from Capitol Hill:

    Since 2012 major sports franchises have been paid nearly $7-million for on-field ceremonies honoring or showcasing military members.

    (Flake) “Then to find out taxpayers are paying for it sort of cheapens the whole lot and that’s simply not right.”

    Arizona Senators Jeff Flake and John McCain have partnered on what they call a Paid Patriotism report, highlighting things like flag unfurlings, luxury box tickets, and appearances with cheerleaders, that the Pentagon paid for.

    The Senators have included a provision in a defense policy bill that would bar the Department of Defense from such contracts.
