Illinois Police Officer’s Shooting Death Ruled ‘Carefully Staged’ Suicide

The September death of a Fox Lake police lieutenant was thought by many to be a potential homicide, however police officials are now saying otherwise.

FOX News’ Jeff Monosso explains:

The two-month investigation into the shooting death of Fox Lake Police Lt. Joe Gliniewicz is over…

And it was a ‘carefully staged’ suicide apparently due to personal stresses in his life…

(Filenko) “The investigation found Gliniewicz had been stealing and laundering money from the Fox Lake Police Explorer Post.  This had been occurring over the past seven years.”

Lake County Commander George Filenko says Gliniewicz used thousands of dollars on personal expenses…

That part of the investigation may include others, it is still ongoing, but the Coroner’s Office and the FBI also include that the two bullets that struck “G.I. Joe” as he was called, came from him.
