El Faro Cargo Ship Wreckage Found

Federal Investigators say they’ve now confirmed a wreckage discovered at the bottom of the Caribbean Sea is that of a cargo ship feared sunk in Hurricane Joaquin.

Fox News’ Eben Brown reports from Miami:

Remnants of a cargo vessel first found by sonar searches over the weekend have now been confirmed to be the wreckage of the El Faro, the nearly 800-foot long cargo ship that got caught in the middle of Hurricane Joaquin a month ago.

Investigators with the National Transportation Safety Board used remote-operated underwater vehicles to get a visual.

The ship had attempted to make its run from Jacksonville, Florida, to San Juan, Puerto Rico, but ended up making a distress call. 33 people were on board and the coast guard recovered one deceased person amidst a floating field of debris.
