Texas High School Coach Denies Ordering Players to Hit Referee

A Texas High School football coach continues to deny that he ordered a blind-side hit on a referee during a game last month.

FOX News Radio’s Gurnal Scott has the story:

Mack Breed resigned his assistant coaching position shortly after the September 4 incident. Two players at Jay High School attacked game official Robert Watts, one delivering the hit, the other diving on top of the ref.

Both players have been suspended from competition for the rest of the year by the body that governs Texas High School sports.

Breed only admitted to saying on the sideline that the ref “needs to pay”… referring to Watts… But had no idea how the players would react. Breed says his focus is now on clearing his name. He’s been banned from coaching for one year.
