New Etsy Competition? Amazon Homemade Launches

    Online retail giant Amazon taking aim at handcrafted goods.

    FOX News Radio’s Rich Denison reports:

    Amazon Handmade launches today, the online retailer hoping to take on holiday shoppers’ tastes for homemade products.

    In a market long-held by “Etsy”, Amazon now opens up the craft market to its 285 million shoppers, and requires sellers to fill out an application to ensure the goods are not from a factory.

    (Smith) “They actually do a background to really make sure that you are handmade and you are actually making the products.”

    Chaundra Smith of Charlotte, North Carolina, a long-time Etsy seller, now offering her wares on Amazon Handmade.

    From walnut cuff links to ornate wall hanging… nearly 100,000 items now for sale.
