Nationals Fire Manager Matt Williams After Two Seasons
After falling short of hefty expectations this season, the Washington Nationals have fired manager Matt Williams.
FOX News Radio’s Dave Anthony has more:
Matt Williams struck out in Washington. Fired after a second season that was a whole lot worse than his first when he was National League Manager of the Year.
This season, Williams led a Nationals team favored to go to the World Series, but instead missed the playoffs.
The biggest highlights were Max Scherzer pitching two no-hitters. The last one Saturday night on MASN:
(Scherzer) “I know the season didn’t go the way we wanted to, but we finished strong.”
The Nationals were hurt by major injuries, but some players called Williams out for mismanaging the team. And there was infighting like that infamous dugout scuffle between Bryce Harper and Jonathan Papelbon.
