A win in court for DC Comics featuring a well-known vehicle for a superhero.

Holy knock-off Batman…
(Batman) “To the Batmobile, let’s go.”
A federal appeals court has ruled that DC Comics is entitled to copyright protection for the Batmobile, the gadget-packed vehicle Batman drove to chase down the bad guys.
The court said the Batmobile’s distinctive traits and look make it a character that can’t be replicated. The loser in the case is mechanic, Mike Towel, who designed knockoffs of the Batmobile as it appeared in the 1960’s TV show and movies and sold them for $90,000 each.
The court opinion even quoted Batman as an authority on the topic, noting, “as Batman so sagely told Robin, in our well-ordered society, protection of private property is essential.”
