Republican presidential hopeful John Kasich remains very popular in his home state, which could prove critical in the 2016 race.

FOX News Radio's Jared Halpern has more from Washington:

The Ohio Governor has a 61% approval rating in his home state, the latest Quinnipiac University poll of swing states shows.

John Kasich is now matching his all time high. 84% of Republicans approve of his job performance and even Democrats in Ohio are split... 46-44.

But the state's Senate race is in too-close-to-call territory, Republican Senator Rob Portman and Democratic challenger and former Governor Ted Strickland each winning around 45% approval.
