A first for the NFL as the Arizona Cardinals hire a female coach.

FOX News Radio’s Chris Hoenig has the story:

Jen Welter is no stranger to breaking gender barriers…

She was the first female coach in a men’s pro football league when she not only coached linebackers and special teams, but played running back and on special teams for the Texas Revolution of the Indoor Football League last year.

Now, she joins the staff of Arizona Cardinals coach Bruce Arians, who expects just one thing…

(Arians) “A coaching staff that works tirelessly.”

Welter will coach inside linebackers during training camp and preseason. Rookies report today; veterans on Friday.
