Baltimore Police Commissioner Fired

The Baltimore Police Department is under new management.

FOX News Radio’s Rachel Sutherland reports:

Anthony Batts is out as Baltimore Police Commissioner. Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake announced his departure after a surge in murders and a drop in arrests in the weeks after the city was ravaged by riots sparked by the death of Freddie Gray.

(Rawlings-Blake) ”The brave men and women of our department who put their lives on the line everyday to make our city safer deserve better, and we’re going to get better.”

Deputy Police Commissioner Kevin Davis replaces Batts on an interim basis. Six Baltimore police officers are charged in Gray’s death.
