A service dog threw himself in front of a bus to protect his owner.

FOX News Radio’s Lilian Woo reports:

Eight-year-old golden retriever Figo, on the mend after throwing himself between his legally blind owner and an oncoming mini school bus, injuring himself.

One witness saying the dog, whose leg was cut to the bone, crawled to his owner’s side and refused to leave her.

(Stone) “He’s amazing and I’m not surprised… because that’s the way he is.”

Owner Audrey Stone half-joking her companion of six years should receive a Purple Heart from the President.

She has three broken ribs and a broken elbow while Figo underwent surgery and has a leg splint. He’ll stay at a veterinary hospital until Stone is well enough to care for him.
