Obama To Limit Military-Style Equipment For Police
President Obama is banning the federal government from providing some military-style equipment to local police departments.
FOX News Radio’s Rachel Sutherland reports from Washington:
In what the White House calls an effort to improve relations between local police and the communities they serve, the government will no longer provide tracked armored vehicles, weaponized aircraft, bayonets, grenade launchers, and large-caliber firearms to local police.
The Obama administration says the equipment could undermine trust in police. In addition, there will be tighter controls on riot gear and specialized firearms and ammunition.
