Dale Earnhardt Jr. Looks To Bristol For First Win Of Season

NASCAR goes back to short track racing this Sunday at Bristol Motor Speedway, Kyle Busch comments on his recovery… a special  honor for broadcaster Steve Byrnes and Jeff Gordon’s kids take center stage at Bristol.

FOX News Radio’s Marghiee Teshineh reports in “FOX in the Fast Lane”:

This week NASCAR switches from the mile and a half tracks where Jimmie Johnson and Kevin Harvick have dominated and heads to Bristol’s short track. Good news for Dale Earnhardt Jr. because it’s a:

(Earnhardt Jr.) “Better opportunity for me, ’cause I’m not… my name’s not Jimmie and my name ain’t Kevin.”

Kyle Busch, still sidelined with a broken foot and leg after crashing his car in February, told reporters this week he’s healing fast, but he’s not ready to say when he’ll return to racing, because:

(Busch) “We don’t want to say yeah , I’m gonna be back by Daytona and then I do something stupid and it puts me back ’til Chase time, you know it just doesn’t make any sense.”

This week’s Cup race has been renamed the Food City 500 In Support of Steve Byrnes and Stand Up to Cancer to honor FOX Sports broadcaster Steve Byrnes, whose battling head and neck cancer.

And, Jeff Gordon will get the command to ‘start your engines’ from his kids Ella and Leo, when they serve as grand marshals this weekend at Bristol.
