The date of the deadly Boston Marathon bombings will be remembered today.

FOX News Radio’s Tonya J. Powers has details:

Boston Mayor Martin Walsh has declared today, April 15th, “One Boston Day”… A new tradition in which Bostonians are encouraged to show kindness and generosity.

It’s a way for the city to move forward as it remembers the events of this day in 2013 when twin bombs exploded at the finish line of the Boston Marathon.

A moment of silence will be observed at 2:49 pm ET when the explosion happened, killing three and hurting more than 260 others.

Honorary banners on Boylston Street, the site of the tragedy, will honor the victims and survivors.

The surviving bomber, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, has been convicted of 30 counts during his federal trial and could face the death penalty.
