Chase Elliott To Make His Sprint Cup Racing Debut At Martinsville
NASCAR goes to Virginia for Sunday’s running of the STP 500 at Martinsville Speedway… Officials working to make Martinsville safer… and Chase Elliott takes his first spin in a Cup car.
FOX News Radio’s Marghiee Teshineh reports in “FOX in the Fast Lane”:
David Ragan will be at Martinsville this weekend, filling in again for Kyle Busch and says racing on this short track means navigating…
(Ragan) “The low speed corners and then accelerating out of those tight corners with a lot of … you know, torque that you need.”
For Brad Keselowski, getting a win early in the season does not mean he can relax this weekend at Martinsville, but…
(Keselowski) “I think it eliminates a lot of outside distractions… allows you to put your most aggressive foot forward.”
Xfinity Series defending champ Chase Elliott makes his Sprint Cup debut this weekend at Martinsville, driving the No. 25 car for Hendrick; the first of five Cup races before he takes over Jeff Gordon’s car next season.
And, track officials at Martinsville, after reviewing their safety measures, are putting in additional tire barriers to be in place in time for qualifying and this weekend’s race. This following Kyle Busch’s crash at Daytona, leaving him with a broken foot and leg.
