Singer Lesley Gore Dies

Singer Lesley Gore has died.

(“It’s My Party”)

The iconic singer -songwriter Lesley Gore, who was the voice to a generation of girls scrambling through their teen years in the early to mid 60’s has died.

Gore topped the charts in 1963 with “It’s My Party,” and followed it up with the hits “Judy’s Turn to Cry”… 

(“You Don’t Own Me”)

…And the anthemic “You Don’t Own Me” the 68-year-old died of cancer at a medical center in Manhattan, according to her partner of 33 years, who called her a wonderful human being.

Gore’s other hits include “She’s A Fool,” and “That’s the Way Boys Are”. Gore had been working on a stage version of her life with playwright Mark Hampton when she died.
