Obama, Merkel Discuss Ukraine Conflict
President Obama met Monday with German Chancellor Angela Merkel at the White House to discuss the violence in Ukraine.
FOX News Radio’s Jon Decker reports from the White House:
Following a meeting with Chancellor Merkel in the Oval Office, President Obama did his best to convey a united front with his German counterpart.
He told reporters at a joint news conference that he will hold off for now on making a decision to arm Ukrainian forces battling Russian-backed separatists in the eastern part of Ukraine.
(President Obama) ”If in fact, diplomacy fails, what I’ve asked my team to do is to look at all options.”
Chief among those options is providing Ukraine with lethal aid — an option that Germany and France are strongly against.
