A Group’s Unique Approach To Tackling New Year’s Eve Drunk Driving
A group in Sioux City, Iowa is handing out thousands of bar napkins in the name of road safety on New Year’s Eve.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports over 10,000 people were killed last year in alcohol-related driving crashes and Sioux City, Iowa’s Mercy Medical Center is now distributing tens of thousands of bright yellow napkins to area bars with a message that encourages people not to drink and drive in the nights leading up to New Year’s Eve.
Safety experts say that at at any given time — 1 out of every 50 drivers is driving drunk, and that increases to 1 in 10 during the holidays.
Many cities and towns throughout the country are also offering free mass transit options on New Year’s Eve.
