FORMER PILOT: AVIATORS TAUGHT TO AVOID THUNDERSTORMS

Leslie Gold filled in for Brian this morning and spoke with former pilot and aviation consultant J.P. Tristani who explained that pilots are told to never fly directly into a storm. They are also by international law they can disregard air traffic controllers telling them not to divert course if they feel danger. He also believes that the lack of a distress call by the pilot means the plane must have suffered a catastrophic event.
