President Obama nominates Ashton Carter as Secretary of Defense.

FOX News Radio's Jared Halpern reports:

Well before the President made the nomination official, Ash Carter was viewed as a top contender for the top job at the Pentagon, serving up until last year as a deputy Defense Secretary.

Key Republicans say they support Carter's nomination, but question if his advice will be taken by the President's inner circle.
