Nurses Hit The Picket Lines, Striking Over Ebola Preparedness
Nurses around the country today (Wednesday) are protesting, picketing, holding candle light vigils… for themselves… in honor of what they’re calling National Ebola Preparedness Day.
FOX News Radio’s Jessica Rosenthal reports:
Nurses in California are striking, others are picketing, and in sixteen states — Nurse Amy Glass who works at Kaiser in Modesto says they’ll be holding candlelight vigils, as well.
(Glass) “Our employers are not ready for Ebola, which means they’re not ready for any pandemic. So, we’re simply asking for the optimal personal protection equipment, which is hazmat suits and respirators. We’re asking for training with ample opportunity to practice putting on and taking off the equipment.”
But, Kaiser — for example, has said that they are prepared, have been engaged in training, and say striking or walking out at the start of flu season is irresponsible.
