An overhaul of the Veterans Affairs Department, even as hundreds of employees face disciplinary action.

FOX News Radio’s Jared Halpern has more from Washington.

The week of Veterans Day, VA Secretary Robert McDonald says the department is making progress — a million more appointments completed this year than last year.

(McDonald) ”We’ve also authorized over one million veterans to receive care outside the VA, a 46 percent increase over last year.”

The Department continues reforming itself after a whistle blower accusations uncovered lengthy wait times and cover ups at several VA facilities. It led to the ouster of then VA Secretary Eric Shinseki.

In an interview with CBS’ “60 Minutes” — McDonald says more than a thousand employees could face discipline as a result of the scandal.
