The Sprint Cup Chase takes drivers this Sunday to Texas Motor Speedway and the AAA Texas 500, a personal loss for Jeff Gordon and Kevin Harvick marks a major race milestone.

FOX News Radio’s Marghiee Teshineh reports in “FOX in the Fast Lane”:

This weekend the Chase goes to Texas, where Carl Edwards has three career wins and says track testing this week at Homestead will help:

(Edwards) “We’re hoping to learn some things for Texas but more importantly we’re hoping to be as prepared as we can be for a championship battle”

For Jeff Gordon with just two races left to make the Chase finale the strategy this weekend is:

(Gordon) “We gotta go race… we gotta race hard… we gotta be smart.”

And though Dale Earnhardt Jr. is no longer in the running for the Cup, his win at Martinsville has him looking forward to Texas because:

(Earnhardt Jr.) “We can accomplish some really good things and win more races.”

This week on social media Jeff Gordon noted the passing of a favorite teacher, Larry Sparks, who was Gordon’s high school driver’s ed instructor. Sparks and his wife were killed in a car crash returning from Martinsville.

And Kevin Harvick marks his 500th career start this weekend at Texas.
