Oscar Pistorius has been sentenced to up to five years behind bars for killing his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.
FOX News Radio's Paul Tilsley reports from the courtroom in Pretoria, South Africa:
Immediately the judge delivered her sentence, Oscar Pistorius briefly touched the hands of his Uncle Arnold and Aunt Lois before he was led down to the police cells under the court. But his defense team say he won't be out of the public eye for long, as they expect him to only serve 10 months of the five year sentence before being released.
Reeva Steenkamp's parents, in a statement, said they are satisfied with the sentence and believe justice has been done. The National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson here says they have not yet decided whether to appeal the verdict, and press for the athlete to be convicted of murder.
