Protests in St. Louis After Man Fatally Shot By Off-Duty Police Officer

Protests in St. Louis after an off-duty cop fatally shot an 18-year-old man black man who, police say, opened fire during a chase.

FOX News Radio’s Jeff Monosso reports:

Dozens gathered on the streets of south St. Louis, protesting following a police shooting Wednesday of an 18-year-old man who cops say was spotted with a gun by an off-duty officer who gave chase.

(Dotson) “The suspect pointed the gun at the officer and fired at least three rounds at the police officer.”

St. Louis Police Chief Sam Dotson.

(Dotson) “At that point the officer returned fire – as the officer moved toward the suspect the suspect continued to pull the trigger on his gun. Once we recovered the gun, we learned that gun malfunctioned – and it was jammed.”

The off-duty officer was working for a private security company at the time patrolling the area where tensions are still high over the Ferguson police shooting of Michael Brown. That case is still under investigation.
