A final farewell at Yankee Stadium to retiring shortstop Derek Jeter.

FOX News Radio’s Joe Chiaro reports:

It’s the end of an era…

(Jeter) “You know, I want to take something special from Yankee Stadium and the view from shortstop here, tonight is what I want to take from it.”

Derek Jeter capping his Yankee Stadium farewell last night with a game-winning single, in the bottom of the ninth to give New York a 6-5 victory over the Orioles.

(Jeter) “The fans are chanting, ‘thank you Derek,’ and I’m thinking to myself, what you are you thanking me for? I’m just trying to do my job.”

The captain tipped his cap several times to adoring fans…

(Jeter) “They’re the ones that I want to thank. They’re the ones that have made this special.”

Jeter spent 20 seasons with the Yankees, and is set to retire at the end of this season.
