Poll: Parents Uncomfortable With Youth Football
A new poll says parental concerns about kids being injured while playing sports are prevalent, but not much is being done about it.
FOX News Radio’s Tonya J. Powers has details:
The Associated Press – GfK Poll says while parents are worried about their kids playing football, they’re not stopping them from strapping on a helmet and getting onto the field.
44% of parents were not only uncomfortable with their child playing football, but also ice hockey and 45% were uncomfortable with them wrestling.
But only 5% have discouraged their child from playing their sport in the last two years.
Most parents surveyed say they’re okay with their kids playing other sports like swimming, track and field, basketball, and others.
The concerns come at a time when several high-profile lawsuits have challenged how concussions are addressed in pro and college sports.
