‘Cannibal Cop’ Conviction Overturned
A former New York City police officer, convicted in a plot to kill and eat his victims gets his case tossed out.
FOX News Radio’s Jeff Monosso reports:
He was dubbed, the ‘cannibal cop’– convicted last year of plotting to kidnap, kill and cook his wife and other young women.
Former New York City Police Officer Gilberto Valle became a prison chef as he awaited sentencing. But, a Federal Judge has tossed out the conviction, ruling prosecutors lacked sufficient evidence to prove that Valle’s intentions were anything more than just a fantasy– as his Defense lawyers had said all along.
In New York, Jeff Monosso, FOX News Radio.
Editor’s note: The judge upheld Valle’s conviction of illegally gaining access to a law enforcement database which has a maximum sentence of one year in prison. A hearing on that matter is pending.
