AEHQ: Cochran Wins Mississippi GOP Senate Runoff

Thad Cochran

A long-serving Senator won a nail-biter of a GOP runoff in Mississippi.

FOX News Radio’s Rachel Sutherland reports:

From America’s Election Headquarters.

It was a fight to the finish in Mississippi, but incumbent Thad Cochran held off a challenge from the Tea Party backed Chris McDaniel. Senator John McCain flew to Mississippi to give Cochran’s campaign a boost.

(McCain) ”A man of distinction, of service, of honor, integrity… a man we must send back to the United States Senate.”

In Oklahoma, Congressman James Lankford picks up the GOP nomination to run for the seat of the retiring Senator Tom Coburn. Lankford was out shaking hands at a diner on election morning.

(Coburn) ”Have you voted yet? I don’t see any stickers around here yet.”

In Maryland, Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown wins the Democratic primary for Governor. And in Florida, businessman Curt Clawson won the seat of Republican Congressman Trey Radel, who resigned earlier this year after a cocaine conviction.
