Texas AG Asks For DHS Cash For State-Run Border Security Initiative [VIDEO]
The flood of unaccompanied minors flooding across the U.S. / Mexico border now has one Texas politician asking for millions of dollars to start up their own state run border security initiative.
FOX News Radio’s Jessica Rosenthal reports:
Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott says he wants $30 million dollars from Homeland Security to run their own border operation out of the Texas Department of Public Safety. He blames the flood of undocumented immigrant children, mostly from Central America, on Federal policies. Policies that allow undocumented immigrants to be released pending court hearings and ones that reunite kids with their parents. Diana Villiers Negroponte is with the Woodrow Wilson International Center For Scholars–
Negroponte: “There is the push factor from the families in Central America, where poverty and unemployment remain severe.”
And she says the pull to the U.S. is from Central American families that have been here already for years.
