Hagel Testifies On Bergdahl Prisoner Swap [VIDEO]
For the first time since the prisoner swap to free Army Sergeant Bowe Bergdhal, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel faced questions from skeptical lawmakers Wednesday.
FOX News Radio’s Jared Halpern has more from Capitol Hill:
Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel concedes the Obama administration could have done more to keep Congress informed of the prisoner swap, but…
(Hagel) “Any delay or any leaks could derail the deal and further endanger Sergeant Bergdahl.”
Members on the House Armed Services Committee complain the deal broke a 30-day notification Congress is supposed to get before any detainee transfer. Others fear the five transferred Taliban could return to the fight.
(Tsongas) “The track record hasn’t been great. What do you have up your sleeve that you, you feel comfortable?”
Hagel tells Massachusetts Democrat Nikki Tsongas the detainees would return to the battlefield at their own peril.
